Actor Bahaa El-Khateeb dies at 41 in Cairo

Egyptian actor Bahaa El-Khateeb has died aged 41 after suffering a sudden heart attack while playing football with friends in Cairo.

El-Khateeb collapsed during the game and was rushed to a hospital in 6 October City, where doctors were unable to revive him, local media reported.

Born on 25 September 1984, El-Khateeb graduated from the Faculty of Law at Cairo University in 2006 before pursuing studies at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in the Acting and Directing Department.

Alongside his artistic career, he worked in fields ranging from visual effects design to human resources management.

He continued to hone his craft through workshops with prominent figures such as Marwa Gabreel, Lotfy Labib, Mahmoud El-Gendy, and Ali Badrakhan.

El-Khateeb’s television credits included Nasibi Wa Qesmetik (My Destiny, Your Destiny, 2016); Wahat El-Ghoroub (Sunset Oasis, 2017), starring Khaled El Nabawy, Menna Shalaby, Sayed Ragab, and Ahmed Kamal; Leabet Newton  (Newton's Cradle, 2021), starring Mona Zaki.

In 2022, he appeared in El-Meshwar (The Journey) with Mohamed Ramadan; Al-Mamaleek (The Mamluks) with Rania Yousef, Bayoumi Fouad, and Nancy Salah; and Faten Amal Harby with Nelly Karim, Sherif Salama, Mohamed El-Sharnouby, and Hala Sedky.

On the big screen, he featured in Show Day (2019), directed by Bebars El-Shahawy, and Saheb El-Maqam (Owner of the Shrine, 2020) by Mohamed Gamal Al-Adl, which starred Asser Yassin, Yousra, Amina Khalil, and Bayoumi Fouad.

 

 

His funeral was held on Sunday at Khatem Al-Morsaleen Mosque in Badrashin, followed by burial at the Mit Rahina cemetery.
