Egyptian production manager Ghazal El-Shall passes away

Egyptian production manager Ghazal El-Shall, a longtime figure in the country's film and television industry, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, 28 June.

The Egyptian Cinema Professions Syndicate announced his death and extended its condolences to his family, colleagues, and the wider artistic community.

Born on 24 October 1959, El-Shall was part of one of Egypt's well-known filmmaking families. He was the father of director Mohamed Ghazal El-Shall and brother of both director Mostafa El-Shall and late filmmaker Mohamed El-Shall.

Over a career spanning more than four decades, he established himself as one of Egypt's veteran behind-the-scenes production figures, serving as a production manager and executive producer on dozens of television dramas.

His most recent television credits include Hadret El Omda (2023), Secret File (2022), Afrah Iblis 2 (2019), The Godfather Parts 1 and 2 (2017–2018), The Flood (2017), El Zae'baq (2017), The President's Shadow (2017), Ras El Ghoul (2016), Seven Souls (2016), among others.

Beyond television series, El-Shall also worked on several television films and specials, including Redress (1988), The Telephone (1986), Confession to the Prosecutor General (1985), When the Road Is Lost (1985), The Daughter-in-Law (El Kenna), and My Aunt Shafiqa's Marriage (Gawaz Amty Shafiqa), serving in various production management and executive production roles.
