Her death was announced by her father, actor SeifAllah Alnaga, on his official Facebook account.
“My beloved daughter, Yasmine SeifAllah Abol Naga, the light of my eyes, has passed away to the mercy of God Almighty due to a heart attack,” he wrote.
Yasmine came from an artistic family, as the only daughter of actress Naglaa Fathi and former actor SeifAllah Alnaga. Fathi, one of Egypt’s most celebrated actresses, starred in dozens of films from the 1960s through the 1990s, including Alexandria... Why? (1978), Dreams of Hind and Camilia (1988), and Supermarket (1990). Alnaga notably appeared in Empire of M (1972) before becoming a prominent architect.
Yasmine was married to director Kheidr Mohamed Kheidr, with whom she had a daughter, Zein. The couple later divorced.
Kheidr also mourned Yasmine in a Facebook post, announcing that the funeral would take place the following day after the noon prayer at Omar Ibn Abdel Aziz Mosque.
Yasmine lived largely away from the public eye.
Following the news of her death, actors and other prominent figures took to social media to pay tribute to Yasmine.
Veteran actor Hussein Fahmy and actress Nabila Obeid both extended their condolences to Naglaa Fathi, with Obeid describing her as “my dear friend and great star” and praying for patience and strength for her family.
Actor Khaled Abol Naga, Yasmine’s uncle, extended his condolences to Yasmine’s family.
Director Kamla Abu Zeikry, who said she had met Yasmine three times, recalled her as “a beautiful and pure person, as if you had come into this world at the wrong time.” She also expressed sympathy for Yasmine’s parents and daughter.
Scriptwriter Mohamed Abdelkhalik, who also presides over the Aswan International Women Film Festival, described Yasmine as “an angel who lived among us and left us the most beautiful memories.”
The funeral prayer is scheduled today after the noon prayer at Omar Ibn Abdel Aziz Mosque, near Heliopolis Sporting Club.
