On Thursday 30 January, Lunar New Year Eve in China, the Chinese Cultural Centre in Egypt will screen a film about the Chinese Spring Festival and hold a discussion around the country's customs and traditions linked to this yearly event.
Every year, Chinese cities explode in colourful celebrations of the Lunar New Year. The festivities include a large number of folk-infused performances, music and dance. This year's festival in China will last from 31 January to 6 February, during which the country enjoys official nationwide holidays.
Lunar New Year celebrations are equally cherished by Chinese communities around the globe. In Egypt, they are observed at the Chinese Cultural Centre, which welcomes Egyptian audiences to participate for a deeper understanding of Chinese traditions.
During the 30 January event, the Chinese centre will reveal more information regarding its planned full-day celebration of Chinese New Year on Friday 14 February.
