Egyptian documentary "Al Midan" (The Square), the first Egyptian documentary to be nominated for an Oscar, has been officially released in Egypt. The official Arabic version, an hour and 45 minutes long, is now available on YouTube.

"It was really important for us that Egyptians — the people who have sacrificed everything for this revolution — got to see the official Arabic version of the film at the same quality as the rest of the world," says the official Facebook page of the film, "We were finally able to make it happen. So here it is."

The Square, directed by Jehane Noujaim, explores different moments in the Egyptian revolution through personal stories depicting multiple points of view from Tahrir Square. The film starts with the initial 18 days of revolutionary outbreak and ends by showing military support of protests calling for Morsi's removal.

The Square is growing more and more in popularity, particularly as the Academy Awards ceremony approaches. It has already been awarded the Audience Award in the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and the People's Choice Award in the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival among several other awards this year.
