A workshop for Egyptian artists looking to fund their projects will be hosted on 16 March at Cairo's British Council by Aflamnah, the first Arab crowdfunding platform launched in July 2012.

Crowdfunding platforms are portals that allow artists, innovators and social activists to fundraise online for their artistic endeavours.

"Aflamnah is a digital platform that helps independent filmmakers, artists, scientists, students, innovators, thinkers and more, raise funds for their projects by getting people excited enough to financially support their idea so that they can make it happen," states the platform's website.

Dubai-based Aflamnah now invites artists from Egypt to this introductory workshop on crowdfunding. The workshop will be led by the platform founders and Nawaf Al-Janahi, the brand ambassador.

The event will be held in partnership with MBC Hope – the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of MBC Group – which supports promising creative initiatives from the Arab world.

Among the projects currently supported by Aflamnah is documentary film A World Not Ours, directed by Mahdi Fleifel. The film is an intimate portrait of three generations of Palestinian refugees exiled in southern Lebanon's Ain Al-Helweh refugee camp.
