On Thursday, Gezira Arts Centre will be screening a documentary called Pictures from Gaza by Egyptian director Tamer Ashry.
The film portrays the daily lives of ordinary Palestinians in Gaza, tackling life under occupation from a different angle than usually employed by film and media. While Gaza is often depicted as a war zone under constant attack, where clashes are incessant and people are suffering and dying, Pictures from Gaza follows Egyptian photographer Ahmed Hayman as he takes photographs of local residents going about their day-to-day business.
Pictures from Gaza is Ashry's third documentary. It was preceded by 28th of January (2008) and The 7th War (2009). He also made Decent Living' in 2012 and The Link in 2013.
