As part of the second edition of India by the Nile, Indian Film Panorama will screen six movies between 11 and 16 April

Indian Film Panorama, which will take place between 11 and 16 April, is part of the second edition of India by the Nile, a festival showcasing a selection of Indian performing and visual arts, music and films in Cairo  (11 - 20 April) , Alexandria and Hurghada.

In addition to the screenings, renowned Indian actress Shabana Azmi, who is visiting Cairo, will hold a discussion session on 11 April at the Artistic Creativity Centre.

Javed Akhtar, Indian poet and songwriter, will hold a discussion on 'The Song in Indian Cinema' on 12 April.

All the movies will be screened at 6pm at the Artistic Creativity Centre located at the Cairo Opera House's grounds.


Friday 11 April

Godmother (1999)
Director: Vinay Shukla
Starring: Shabana Azmi, Milind Gunaji, Nirmal Pandey
Running Time: 150 minutes
English subtitles

Inspired by the life of Santokben Jadeja, a woman who headed an underworld enterprise in India, the movie follows Rambhi, an Indian housewife who rises from her household responsibilities to become a powerful politician.

Saturday 12 April

Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), romance comedy
Director: Maneesh Sharma
Starring: Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Manu Rishi Chadha
Running Time: 140 minutes
Arabic subtitles

The movie is about two wedding planners who achieve success as partners but their differences turn them into bitter rivals.


Sunday 13 April

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag  (Run Milkha Run, 2013), biographical sports drama
Director: Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra
Starring: Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor, Pavan Malhotra
Running Time: 189 minutes
Arabic subtitles

The film is based on the life of Milkha Singh, a former Indian athlete, track and field sprinterand an Olympian.


Monday 14 April

Guzaarish (2012), drama romance

Running Time: 116 minutes

A story of a paralyzed magician-turned-radio jockey who files a petition in court seeking permission to end his life.


Tuesday 15 April

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (Life Doesn't Come Twice, 2011), comedy drama, road film

The film talks about three friends who embark onto a typical bachelor trip, a vacation which is based on their fantasy.
