Won Kar-Wai’s beautiful, highly-stylised film In the Mood for Love will be screened at the Kotob Khan bookstore this evening, Wednesday 13 April at 7 pm, followed by a discussion with the Egyptian scriptwriter and director Ahmed Abou Zeid.
Kotob Khan dedicates each month to a filmmaker. This month it is the one of the most distinguished, contemporary filmmakers, Won Kar-Wai.
In the Mood for Love is the second film in Won Kar-Wai’s trilogy, which also includes Days of Being Wild and 2046. The film reflects the loneliness and the bond that can spring up between two strangers. It's slow pace and soft colour palettes, along with its jazzy music, give the film a discernible mood which can be traced to all Won Kar-Wai’s films.
It has won 31 awards, including the Cesar award for best foreign film, the best actor award and received the technical grand prize at the Cannes film festival. It was also nominated for the best director award.
The film also received a nomination as best foreign film at the BAFTA film awards.
In the Mood for Love will be screened at the Kotob Khan bookstore, 3/1 El Laselky Street, New Maadi this evening, Wednesday 13 April at 7 pm
