The seventh edition of Rencontres de L’image will take place from 13 April till 20 April at the French Cultural Centre (CFCC) Mounira, with a wide selection of short films and documentaries, as well as two feature-length films to be screened during the opening and closing of the event.
Many animated films will be screened as a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the first screening of an animated film in Egypt, which took place in February 1936. The film was by the Frenkel brothers.
The event is organised by many institutions such as the National Centre for Cinema, Unifrance, Fémis, ASIFA Egypte, and the Goethe Cultural Institute.
Films to be screened are mostly by Egyptian filmmakers, though films by international directors are also among the selection.
English or Arabic subtitles are provided. All screenings start at 6 pm.
