Collective working group 'Artivism' who aim to use art to inspire social change, host a one-day event, dubbed 'Artivism Fesitval', bringing Maryam Saleh, Darwasha and El-Manzouma to the stage in Downtown's Greek Campus.

The event, hosted on Saturday 27 December at 6pm, also features a visual performance by Tefa.

Artivism's three musical acts are "artivists" in their own right. Maryam Saleh garners a loyal fan base through her intense vocals and unusual, edgy compositions, as well as her unique onstage performances, enriched by her acting background. She launched her first album, Mesh Baghanny (I Don't Sing) in 2012 and became famous for her reinventions of old Egyptian songs, such as her covers of El-Sheikh Imam melodies, which she boldly blends with rock music.

Darwasha create their own unique sound through mixing oriental sounds with progressive rock. The band includes Mohamed Darwish (guitar), Safi El-Din (vocals), Ahmed El-Azazy (drums), Shady El-Husseiny (piano/melodica), Mohamed Faisal (bass guitar), Omar Zanaty (percussion) and Sooka (oud).

Finally El-Manzouma is less structured than its counterparts. Their performance is based mainly on improvisation of music, spoken word and visuals. The group includes celebrated young poet Ali Talibab, Ismail Salit (keyboard), Hassan Salit (drums), Youssef Abo Zied (guitar), Omar Sobhy (guitar) and Tifa (visuals).

Programme:
