Celebrating the Valentine's, pianist Mirette Hanna and violinist Hossam Shehata will give a special recital at the Cairo Opera House's small hall.
The concert will include the well known compositions by Wieniawski, Kreisler, Tchaikovsky, Ysaye, Paganini, Sarasate, Schumann, Liszt and Chopin.
The evening will include Wieniawski's Polonaise no.1 for violin and piano, Caprice no. 24 for violin and piano (arranged by Leopold Auer), Chopin's Prelude in E minor op. 28 no. 4 and Etude “Black Keys” Op. 10 no. 5, extracts from Schumann's Scenes from Childhood op. 15, among many other compositions for piano solo or piano and violin.
Mirette Hanna graduated from the Cairo Conservatory where she studied with Amal El-Shahed and Marcelle Matta. Hanna participated in the First Dubai International Peace Music Festival for Young Virtuosos, in which she won second prize. She continued her education at the Regional Conservatory of Montpellier, the Regional Conservatory of Lyon and in Geneva. In 2014, Hanna returned to Egypt.
Hanna has already cooperated with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Chamber Orchestra and the Alexandria Opera Orchestra. She has also performed with the Emirates Youth Orchestra and participated in several workshops for young musicians organised in Egypt and internationally. In 2013, Hanna won the Absolute First Prize (Category “B” ex-aequo, with Nadav Verbin) at the Roma International Piano Competition.
Hossam Shehata graduated from the Cairo Conservatoire and later studied at the Maastricht Conservatoire, Holland. As a violinist, Shehata participated in several international competitions including the International Wieniawsky Competition, the International World Youth Musician Festival, Moscow, and the Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris.
Shehata also presented a number of concerts and recitals in different European countries and was awarded a special prize as "top talent" and soloist of the international Master Classes in Holland, in 2001 where he also recorded a CD. Currently Shehata plays as second concertmaster of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra and has been there since 2003.
