A series of music events titled Labyrinth/Mahatat will take place in Cairo, Beirut and London, bringing performances by Egyptian independent musician Maurice Louca and the British sound artist Helm to Townhouse’s Rawabet Theatre.
The evening will feature a special performance by Maurice Louca, playing for the first time in Egypt since his European tour, accompanied by Bashar Farran on bass, Tommaso Cappellato on drums, and other musicians from Louca’s latest album.
The performance will be accompanied by an installation of light sculptures, operated live by Dia Hamed.
Based in London, sound artist and musician Luke Younger who is known as Helm, will perform for the first time in Egypt.
His experimental music is described as “dense aural landscapes that incorporate elements of musique concrete and industrial music alongside hallucinatory drones.”
An after party will follow the concert at the Old French Consulate in downtown, featuring a lineup of DJs: Aly B, Ahmed Samy, and $$$TAG$$$.
Labyrinth series are co-produced by Nawa Recordings and 33:33, in partnership with The Wire, Boiler Room, Ma3azef and Vent studio in Cairo.
