Directed by Hisham El Tally, Il Trovatore's, which premiered  in the Cairo Opera House' May 2015, will return to the main hall between 1 and 4 December.

Composed to a libretto by Salvadore Cammarano, and based on Antonio Garcia Gutierrez’s 1836 play El Trovador, Il Trovatore is widely seen as Verdi’s masterpiece.

Until last May, Il Trovatore has not been staged in Egypt since 1988 when it was performed during the first season of the then-newly built Cairo Opera House by a foreign orchestra and choir with artists from Sofia, Bulgaria.

The current production relies mostly on the Egyptian artists: soloists from the Cairo Opera Company, Cairo Opera Orchestra and the Cairo Opera Choir conducted by David Crescenzi, with scenography by Mohamed Abdel Razik.

Guest soloists from Romania and Italy will also join the production.

Cast:
Manrico, a troubadour and officer in the army of the Prince of Urgel: tenors Antonio Coriano and Diego Cavazzin (Italy)
Leonora, noble lady, in love with Manrico and courted by Di Luna: soprano Eman Mostafa (Egypt) and Carmen Gurban (Romania).
Azucena, a gypsy, supposedly Manrico's mother: mezzo-sopranos Jolie Faizy (Egypt) and Nas Andrada (Romania).
