Rania Shaalan "Photo:the event brochure"
Singer, song writer and composer Rania Shaalan will hold a concert Saturday 27 February at the Cairo Opera House.
The concert will include songs based on lyrics by the two late Egyptian poets Salah Jaheen and Ahmed Fouad Negm to music by Shaalan, arranged by the pianist Rashad Fahim.
The evening will also include Shaheer Sherif on bass, Hussein el Meligy on percussions and Mohamed Mazhar on electric guitar.
Grammy award-winning Egyptian musician Fathy Salama will be the featured guest.
Shaalan graduated from the Fine Arts' sculpture department before she embarked on her music career.
In her music, she often interweaves poetry by Jaheen and Negm.
Throughout her career, Shaalan performed solo as well as alongside other musicians.
In her concerts she frequently features renowned musicians.
