The Awela Balady Ensemble will perform a concert dedicated to legendary Egyptian musician Sheikh Imam on 2 June, at the Cairo Opera House's Open-air Theatre.
The concert celebrates the group’s four-year anniversary as well as the 21st memorial of the death of Sheikh Imam.
Awela Balady, which aims to revive Egyptian musical heritage, was founded by musician Sheikh Alaa Ibrahim in 2012.
Members of the ensemble include Ahmed El-Nogly, Ahmed Nafee, Hisham El-Rifaei, Ahmed El-Rifaei, Islam Mahmoud, Sarah Ibrahim, Zeinab Taleb, Ahmed Nabil, Islam Mahmoud and Zein El-Abdeen.
