On Monday, 10 October, the Cairo Opera House will celebrate its 23rd anniversary.
The first part of the evening will include extracts from Arabic compositions with the orchestra conducted by Selim Sahab. Elements of this part include “Fi Hob Misr”, based on a poem by Hussein El Sayed with music by Mohamed Abdel Wahab and soloist May Farouk as well as “Misr Allati Fi Khateri”, based on a poem by Ahmed Ramy, to the music by Riad El Sonbaty and soloist Reham Abdel Hakim
After this, chosen arias will be performed from a number of known operas by the soloists: Iman Mostafa (soprano), Mona Rafla (soprano), Jolie Faizy (mezzo soprano), Walid Korayem (tenor) and Reda El Wakil (bass).
The soloists will be be accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra conducted by Nayer Nagui and Cairo Opera Choir
The evening will conclude with extracts from ballets scenes performed by the Cairo Opera Ballet Company, with Erminia Kamel as its director and scenography by Mahmoud Haggag.
Entry is free of charge.
