Reggae aficionados have a rendezvous with Egyptian band Meshwar on Saturday, 5 November, at Cairo’s El-Genaina Theatre.
The eight-member band held their debut concert back in 2011 and have since been “marrying reggae grooves with Arabic lyrics and a dash of invigorating blasts of brass,” according to the band's description on Facebook.
"'Meshwar' means journey, this youthful and fun-loving troupe hopes to be part of a larger awakening in their society where harmony transcends all.”
The band’s line up comprises: Ahmed Yousef (vocals), Ahmed Tito (drums), Mahmoud Fawzy (bass guitar), Mohamed Youssef (keyboard), Abduallah Mohamed (keyboard), Diaa Badr (guitar), Abdullah El-Halawani (lead guitar), Waleed Abdo (percussion) and Muhammed Hassan (sound engineer).
