Digital distribution network Shabaka has signed a contract with Egyptian megastar Amr Diab, it said.

Shabaka will be responsible for the marketing and distribution of Diab's musical material on YouTube.

Shabaka is already responsible for the YouTube accounts of over 200 artists from the Middle East and North Africa, reaching a total of over a billion views on the site monthly.

Known to fans as El-Hadaba, the 57-year-old popstar's career took off in the 1980s, and he has remained popular in Egypt and the region.

He has released more than 30 albums and starred in three Egyptian movies.
