Fabrica, the musical theatre company, has released a video clip in which they sing Ramadan Gana, a popular song from Mohamed Abdel-Motaleb’s repertoire
“We would like to share with you this song filmed at a Fabrica Sohour last year (Ramadan 2019) from before coronavirus times. Stay safe, everyone. Together, we will get through this and come together to make more memories again,” is a message posted by Egypt’s musical theatre company under the newly released music video of Ramadan Gana (Ramadan is here).
Seated in Fabrica’s premises, the company members surround soprano Neveen Allouba, Fabrica’s founder and managing director, while singing their rendition of Ramadan Gana, a known song from Egyptian singer Mohamed Abdel-Motaleb’s repertoire.
Posted on Fabrica Theatre’s YouTube channel, this one-minute-long video showcasing Ramadan Gana’s opening couplets is a way for the company to add a touch of hope and warm harmonies to the month of Ramadan.
Ramadan Gana (also spelled Ramadan Jana) is considered the holy month’s staple song sung by people welcoming the arrival of Ramadan.
Composed by Mahmoud El-Sherif to lyrics by Hussein Tantawy, the song was first popularised by Abdel-Motaleb on the national radio, before reaching television.
The Fabrica’s version of the song has a music arrangement, production and recording by Mina Samy. The video is directed by Mohamed Ashraf Koushi.
Fabrica is a musical theatre company that was founded in 2013 by Egyptian soprano Neveen Allouba and Mohamed Abou Elkheir to develop the performing arts scene through its innovative projects and trainings.
