Egypt's internationally renowned tabla (darbouka) player Said El Artist will perform with his band at the Cairo Opera House's open-air theatre on Sunday 23 August.
Said El Artist began his career at the age of 10, when he used to dedicate most of his time to the tabla.
As a young man, he performed at weddings and parties, accompanying well-known Oriental dancers and joining musicians working with renowned singers.
His innovative approach to tabla has attracted the attention of many listeners.
He has become among the most sought after tabla players in the region. Whether joining other artists, performing solo or with his troupe, El Artist has appeared on many stages in Egypt and the Middle East.
Though he often performed alongside the well-known names internationally, El Artist made his own 'entry to Europe' with his performance at the Hall de la Chanson (The Hall of Song) in France in June 2019. Featuring numerous works on tabla, El Artist was accompaied by 12 other Egyptian musicians performing on tabla, duff, accordion, rababa, doholla (type of bass tabla).
