Famous Egyptian singer Medhat Saleh will give a concert on Friday at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina's Art Centre amid its 18th International Summer Festival running in the second half of August.
"I will be with the people of Alexandria on Friday 21 August and I pray that God enables me to please you," Saleh said to his fans ahead of the concert.
In addition to a selection from his 2019 album, Saleh will perform many songs from his repertoire including Kawkab Tany, Wala Teswa Domo' and El-Donia Alemetny, alongside some movie themes including from the films Mafia, El-Beliatsho and Amir El-Zalam.
Saleh made a fine appearance during his latest concert on Thursday at the Cairo Opera House's Fountain Theatre, where he was accompanied by conductor and pianist Amr Selim and many other well-known musicians.
The successful multi-talented artist has had a long and successful career with over a dozen hit albums, in addition to starring as an actor in many famous films, TV series and plays.
The two-week festival, operating under strict safety measures in light of the coronavirus pandemic, is dedicated to late Egyptian folk-dance icon Mahmoud Reda, who passed away on 10 July at the age of 89.
The festival, which opened on Saturday with a performance by Dina El-Wedidi and her band, will feature a variety of performances and lectures on different art forms before it concludes with a performance by pop star Mostafa Amar on 29.
Cultural events and activities in Egypt were resumed last month as part of phase one of the country's reopening after the COVID-19 shutdowns. All events are being held under strict measures that include social distancing, obligatory masks, and sanitisation.
