The Cairo Opera House will be hosting an event honoring Egyptian composer Farouk El-Sharnouby on Thursday 4 February.
The evening will feature numerous well-known singers: Ali El-Haggar, Marwa Nagi, Ahmed Sa'ad and Mohamed El-Sharnouby, presenting a selection of Farouk El-Sharnouby's work accompanied by an orchestra conducted by Mostafa Helmy.
The repertoire will include some of El-Sharnouby's all-time greatest hits like, Tair Fel Sama, Ala Einy, Nefsy, Bent W Walad, Bahlam Ala Addie, Ana Kont Eidek among many others.
The 1951-born El-Sharnouby was among the most prominent composers in his peak in the late 1980s, enjoying a long career where he collaborated with the majority of first-row singers through the decades, including Amr Diab, Magda El-Roumy, Eman El-Bahr Darwich, Hani Shaker, Medhat Saleh and dozens of other stars.
He wrote scores for a number of films including Youssef Shahin's Alexandria New York in 2004, in addition to many theater hits like Hazemny Ya in 1992.
