Shaker El-Mougy composed for many Arab pop stars, with the highlight of his legacy being his cooperation with George Wassouf

Many Arab music celebrities and entities have mourned the loss of veteran Egyptian composer Shaker El-Mougy who passed away on Saturday after a long struggle with illness.

“Shaker El-Mougy has left an outstanding legacy through his works with the biggest stars ,including Mayada El-Hennawy, George Wassouf, Carole Samaha, and Walid Toufic,” the Egyptian musicians syndicate stated on Tuesday, offering its conciliation to the musician’s fans and family.

El-Mougy’s contribution to Arab pop classics includes a long list in cooperation with various Arab singers.

However, his most remarkable works are made during a long journey of joint work with Lebanese star singer George Wassouf since the early 80s. El-Mougy composed many popular hits with Wassouf, including ‘Elliy Ta’abna Senien Fi Hawah’, ‘Sayad Al-Toyour’, ‘Tabib Garrah’, ‘Law Naweet Tensa Elly Fat’, among others.

He was inspired by his uncle Mohamed El-Mougy, the late iconic musician.
