Oud duo, Ghassan Alyoussif and Dina Abdelhamid, will perform a selection of Arabic classic on Friday at the open-air court of the historical Manasterly Palace.
In addition to some of their compositions, the known couple's repertoire will combine oud arrangements for classics like Sayed Darwish's 'Aho Da Elly Sar', 'El-Helwa De', Um Kulthoum's 'Baied Annak', 'Hob Eih' and Ansak, Fairouz's 'Adaish Kan Fi Nas and Bent El-Shalabeya, and many other memorised tunes for other legends.
The duo will feature Noha Darwish (piano), Mohamed El-Sayad (guitar) and Mohamed Morgan and Hamada (percussions), as well as a number of the Arabic music institute students.
Graduates of Naseer Shamma’s Beit Al-Oud (The House of Oud) in Cairo, Alyoussif and Abdelhamid, known for their joint performances, have performed a series of successful concerts in various halls in Egypt and abroad in recent years.
The performance is part of a summer programme organized by the Culture Ministry's Cultural Development Fund featuring other artistic events in different venues.
Other concerts include Ihab Yunis's on Saturday at Talaat Harb Cultural Center, Ali El-Helbawy's on Sunday at Amir Taz Palace, Mohamed Abdel Fattah's Awtar Quartet at Manasterly Palace on Friday 30 July.
