Popular Egyptian singer Sherine Abdel-Wahab, also known as Sherine, continues to trend in Egypt in December with her latest successful release We-Bahleflak (“I Swear To You”).

With almost three million views on YouTube in only a couple of days, We-Bahleflak confirms Sherine’s domination of December music releases, with earlier releases like Khasemt El-Noum still trending.

A typical modern pop break-up guitar-riff arrangement of Mohamed Magdy, We-Bahleflak’s emotional lyrics were written by Mohamed Mostafa Malek and neatly composed by Mahmoud Anwar, thought to reflect her recently announced personal issues.

“Don’t wait for something to get us back together. Because this could benefit nothing, we would only be healing our pains. What would we do? Without asking why, we tried and God with his own wisdom didn’t enable us to make it work,” Sherine sings in the chorus of We-Bahleflak.

Earlier in December, Sherine gained widespread attention in Egypt and the Arab world with her new shaved-hair look, as well as by revealing the issues that plagued the relationship with her ex-husband singer and composer Hossam Habib and caused a divorce between the celebrity couple.

The divorce has gained significant coverage from local and regional news platforms and talk shows as well producing controversy and garnering a wide range of reactions from social media users.

Despite her lack of releases earlier this year, Sherine and her two daughters will participate in the New Year’s Eve episode of hit show Sahebat El-Saada presented by Esaad Yunis, the same show that hosted musicians Wegz and Ruby last year.

Gaining millions of listens for earlier December releases, Kallaha Ghayrana and El-Qammas, Sherine is currently also trending with mid-December release Khasemt El-Noum, which surpassed its five million views on her personal YouTube channel as well as another seven million on the production company Rotana’s channel.

Sherine, after shooting to fame in the smash 2002 album Tamer & Sherine, has become one of the top female voices in Egypt and the Arab world with over a dozen of successful albums and multiple TV and cinema credits.

Other trending music releases of the week include Omar Kamal’s Enty Alby featuring Shaimaa El-Maghraby among other Mahragan releases, as well as rap star Wegz’s Msh Khalsa featuring ElGrande Toto.
