Egyptian megastar Amr Diab tops 2021 streams on Anghami

The Arab World’s leading music streaming platform, Anghami, has unveiled its top-listened lists of 2021 this week, naming Egyptian megastar Amr Diab top Arabic artist across all countries.

Other Egyptian pop stars fill the top spots, with Mohamed Hamaki in second place, Tamer Hosni in fourth and Ramy Sabry in fifth.

Rising Egyptian rap star Wegz placed third, while indie star Hamza Namira made it to ninth.

Legendary Lebanese star Fairouz placed sixth, with 24 million users start their day listening to her ever-popular songs, though this is not the total number of her listeners.

Amr Diab’s album Ya Ana Ya La was the most streamed album of the year, while his earlier album, Sahran, came in third place. Hamaki’s Ya Fateny and Kol Youm Men Dah came in second and fifth, respectively. Namira’s Mawlood Sanat 80 placed fourth.

The Weeknd, Drake, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift and Sia were the top-listened international artists of the year.

The top songs listened to by Egyptian streamers were, respectively, Ruby’s Hetta Tanya, Namira’s Fady Shwaya, Habibty by Hassan Shakoosh featuring Yasmine Raeis, El-Melouk of Ahmed Saad that features 3enba and Double-Zoksh. Double-Zoksh also appeared on the list in fifth place, with Fokak.

Founded in Lebanon in 2011, Anghami claims that its users have streamed over 10 billion minutes of local artists, with Arabic rap growing by 124% this year, and indie by 120%, in addition to a notable growth of the platform’s podcast and radio services streaming.
