The news about Mariam's win was shared by her father on his Facebook page.
Mariam's win comes only a few months after she garnered the silver award at the Nutcracker International Television Contest for Young Musicians.
The Golden Note is a classical music show aired by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF), which is Austria's largest media provider, operating four national television and twelve radio channels.
Competing against dozens of other young performers, the teenage musical prodigy reached the finals together with other eight performers between the age of 10 and 16.
This year, the competition welcomed young talents to perform on string instruments, piano, as well as wind instruments.
In the finals, Abouzahra performed 'Sabre Dance' from is Aram Khachaturian's ballet Gayane.
A classical music stable, the Sabre Dance is a very challenging work for a musician, demanding high skills and testing the performers capabilities.
The competition's jury included renowned names in the classical music scene, such as baritone Clemens Unterreiner; violinist Lidia Baich; and Rebecca Horner, the principal dancer of the Vienna State Ballet Company.
The final competition and special gala aired on the television channel ORF 2 on 21 May.
Born to a Hungarian mother, Nóra Emödy, and an Egyptian father, Ahmed Abouzahra, both pianists, the young musician is also the granddaughter of famous Egyptian actor Abdel-Rahman Abouzahra.
Mariam Abouzahra started playing violin at the age of three, following the example of her elder sister Amira.
Both sisters have been performing extensively and winning in international contests, such as the German youth national competition, the Virtuózok Talent show in Hungary and many others.
In 2020, the sisters received the highest awards at one of the most prestigious competitions for young violinists- the International Arthur Grumiaux Competition in Belgium.
The Abouzahra sisters are also among the few young talents who are offered support by the Young Virtuosos Foundation.
Mariam is currently studying in the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under the guidance of violin professor Dora Schwarzberg.
In December 2021, she won the silver award at the Nutcracker International Television Contest for Young Musicians in Moscow, Russia.
