Musical theatre to be main theme of 31st Arab Music Festival and Conference

The Egyptian Culture Ministry has announced that musical theatre will be the main topic of discussion at the upcoming 31st edition of the Arab Music Festival and Conference.

“Theatre is the father of all arts that combines different fields of arts, like drama, poetry, acting, décor, music and singing, in one art form,” stated the festival organiser inviting researchers to participate in the five topics of the festival that all revolves of musical theatre in Arab music heritage.

The upcoming edition is scheduled to take place in multiple venues in Cairo, Alexandria and other governorates between 20 October and 3 November, hosting dozens of concerts for some of the most well known Egyptian and Arab singers, bands and instrumentalists.

The event will see workshops and competitions in singing, song writing and instrumental performance, including categories for youngsters, kids and special needs talents in addition to newly added category for non music reader instrumentalist talents.

Under the presidency of the Cairo Opera House head Magdy Sabeer and managed by Jihan Morsi, last year’s edition of the prestigious event hosted over 30 concerts by over 100 artists from 10 Arab countries: Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Tunisia, Palestine, Jordan and Oman.
