Naguib Mahfouz film festival

The Naguib Mahfouz film programme kicked off on 15 February at Zawya with the aim of celebrating the legacy of Mahfouz, the first Arab author to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1988. The programme showcases seven narrative feature films of classic Egyptian cinema, five of which were adaptations from Mahfouz’s novels. The screenplays for two of the films were written by Mahfouz.

Cairo Baroque Ensemble

The evening will present the best works of the Baroque era by Händel, Telemann, Vivaldi, and Bach. The ensemble includes the following musicians: Ahmed Farag (odoe), Medhat Abdel Salam (violin), Yasmine Samy (violin), Alaa Khalil (viola), Shady Hanna (cello), Amr Seif (basso) and John Baboukis (basso continuo).
Ali Omar El-Farouk in concert

The concert is part of Goethe Institut’s Un-Plugged Music Nights. In an interactive performance, Egyptian/Canadian guitarist and oud player Ali Omar El-Farouk will take the audience on a journey through his artistic practice. El-Farouk, accompanied by percussionist Hany Bedair, will present some of the compositions from his first album Ela Mataa? (2019).
The evening will also include a selection of flamenco guitar masterpieces by the greatest flamenco guitar legends of all time such as Sabicas, Paco De Lucía, Paco Peña, Vicente Amigo, Moraíto Chico, and Diego Del Morao.

Sharmoofers - Caravan Concert

Since their inception in the early 2010s as a music project resulting from meetings of musician friends, Sharmoofers have gained popularity and have since entertained the audience with their music online and through live performances. In the first years of the band's activities, their line-up included Ahmed Bahaa (vocals), Moe El-Arkan (bass guitar), Ahmed Aly and Adel Mohamed (percussion), Mostafa Kerdani (drums), Mohamed Labib (saxophone), and Islam Ali 'Solly' (trumpet), though the setup of the formation continued to change over the years.
At Zed Park, Sharmoofers, performing as a trio, will perform a fusion of pop-infused rock and reggae.

A musical play that revolves around the life of Charlie Chaplin and looks at the extent of his influence on the international film industry. The play tells his story from its human side, and sheds light on the stages and difficulties that he overcame in his journey and artistic career.
Tamer Hosny in concert

A pop singer, songwriter and actor, Hosny's career was launched in 2002, and in no time he became one of the biggest pop celebrities in Egypt and the Arab region.
Over the span of his career, he released over 13 albums that achieved very high sales and made appearances in a number of television series. Apart from his solo performances across the Arab region, Hosny also collaborates with other musicians like Rim Banna, Latifa, Souad Massi, and Sherine.
An endorser of Pepsi, he was also the first Arab celebrity to advertise for sunglass brand Police.
Amir Eid acoustic night

Omar Khairat

One of the top musicians of the Arab world, Khairat has hundreds of compositions in his repertoire.
He has written scores for numerous films and television series, including The Sixth Day (1984), The Terrorist (1993), Mafia (2002), Girl’s Love (2003), The Embassy is in the Building (2005), and Deer’s Blood (2006).
In his concerts, Khairat usually features his best-known compositions, all works that are beloved by generations of his followers.

She Arts Orchestra

Celebrating international women’s day, the She Arts Orchestra conducted by Isabella Ambrosini (Italy) will feature soloists Manal Mohie Eldin (Egypt) on harp and soprano Ginevra Rizzi (Italy). The orchestra is part of the She Arts festival, whose second edition took place in September 2022.
