Ramadan television series

Caveman exhibition
Until 11 April
Ubuntu Art Gallery, 20 Hassan Sabry Street, Zamalek, Cairo

Caveman is a solo exhibition of paintings by Doaa Fakher. The exhibition opened on 15 March and continues until 11 April. Doaa Fakher’s body of work is communicated within an ethereal and eerie context of which her signature creatures are presented. She gathers most of her inspiration from nature, whereby the figures within her paintings are directly referenced from trees, and the faces she finds and assembles within the tree trunks, adding more depth to her intricate, unworldly work.

Mazaher ensemble (Zar) 
Wednesday 29 March, 9pm
Egyptian Center For Culture & Arts - Makan, 1 Saad Zaghloul Str, Cairo

Mazaher is an ensemble in which women play a leading role.
The musicians of Mazaher, Um Sameh, Um Hassan and Nour El-Sabah are among the last remaining Zar practitioners in Egypt.
The music is inspired by the three different styles musical styles of the Zar tradition practiced in Egypt.

Zaii Zaman concert
Thursday 30 March, 8.30pm
Tahrir Cultural Centre

Led by violinist Ahmed Hassan, the quartet also features oud, double bass and percussion. The concert will introduce to the audience the Arabic music - mostly compositions by Hassan - as presented within its older canons. The Tahrir Cultural Centre promotes the event saying: “the right music for the right time.”

This concert marks Zaii Zaman's return after a few years hiatus.

Sufi Dance Performance
Friday 31 March, 9pm
Dawar Arts, 16 Adly St, 3rd Floor, downtown, Cairo

Titled Hal Al Hob is a Sufi multimedia dance performance, choreographed and performed by Ahmed Boraie. 

Live podcast with an audience
Sunday 2 April, 9pm
Rawabet Art Space, 3 Hussein Basha Al Meamari, Downtown, Cairo

Presented by Mesh Mawgood, the live podcast is titled Konafa. 

Mohamed El-Helw, Reham Abdel Hakim in concert
Sunday 2 April, 9.30pm
Cairo Opera House, main hall, Zamalek, Cairo

A highly popular Egyptian singer’s hits include Ahim Shawqan, Ya Habibi, Amar Ya Eskendria and others. Reham Abdel-Hakim is a frequent performer of the Cairo Opera. She also participates in concerts featuring films music.

Their concert is part of the special Ramadan programming prepared by the Cairo Opera House.

Saad El Oud concert
Monday 3 April, 9pm
Room Art Space, New Cairo

Saad El-Oud plays songs representing authentic Egyptian heritage in his remarkable way of interacting with the audience.
