Launched in March 2022, in celebration of International Women’s Day, Spotify's EQUAL Arabia project aims to shed light and empower Arab female creators.

As the local version of Spotify's Global Music Programme, EQUAL Arabia focuses on women’s voices in the region and bringing them to the global attention of international listeners.

Each month, Spotify chooses one female creator to become the programme's ambassador.

The voices supported throughout the past months included Egyptian-Moroccan rapper, Perrie; Egyptian singer Angham; Lebanese Carole Samaha and Egyptian Dina El-Wedidi.

Born in 1994, Carmen Soliman showcased her singing talent at an early age, often joining renowned singers on stage.

At the age of 16, Egyptian singer Hani Shaker introduced her in his concert at the Cairo Opera House as "an exceptional voice."

She also received an award of "the best young voice" by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Culture.

Soliman's popularity soared following her win of the first Arab Idol in 2012.

A year later, she released a highly succesful debut single Kalam Kalam.

Her hits that followed included Leena Ra'asa and Hobak Enta, with many garnering millions of streams on Spotify.

Some of her music videos on YouTube have garnered more than 70 million views.
