Medhat Saleh performs at the Cairo Opera House as part of El-Asateza project launch, Friday 7 July 2023, Cairo
Saleh’s concert marked the beginning of a larger project aiming to reintroduce the rich Arabic music heritage in modernized renditions.
The event garnered significant attention on social media, with spectators expressing their excitement for the live broadcast on Al-Hayat TV channel.
“This project reflects Egypt’s soft power and embodies Egyptian elegant artistic essence,” stated Egypt’s Minister of Culture Nevine El-Kilani during the concert, stressing that “Egypt will always remain a fertile land full of all elements of arts, creativity and culture.”
Saleh was accompanied by Hisham Mostafa's orchestra and skilled soloists, including pianist Amr Selim. They performed timeless tunes from legendary Egyptian and Arab composers, such as Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, Farid El-Atrash, Kamale El-Taweel, Riad Al Sunbati, Mohamed Fawzy and others.
These revered compositions were given fresh arrangements by Ahmed Mostafa, Ahmed El-Mougy, and Osama Kamal.
The concert featured beloved songs including Fawzy's Tamally Fi Alby and Ya Gamil Yally Hena, El-Atrash's Mosh Kefaya, the Rahbani brothers' Shat Iskandaria, El-Taweel's Asmar Ya Asmarany, Mohamed El Mougy's Safini Marra, Mounir Mourad's Awel Marra Teheb, Abdel-Wahab's Foo El-Shook and Hammal El-Asseya, along with Serag Omar's Makader and Abdel-Hamid El-Sayed's Ya Haly.
