The Cairo Opera operates on several stages across Cairo (with its principal venue in Zamalek, Gomhoreya Theatre, Sayed Darwish Theatre, and Arab Music Institute), in addition to the Alexandria Opera House and Damanhour Opera House.
The events in the opera schedule for the coming three days include the El-Barouka (The Wig) operetta by Sayed Darwish (17 December at Alexandria Opera), Gala El-Hadidi Christmas concert (17 December at Cairo Opera), and Modern Dance Company's celebrations (18 December at Cairo Opera), among others.
The suspension decision is also implemented by all other venues operated under the Ministry of Culture, such as those managed by the Cultural Development Fund. They include Bait El-Harawi, Beit El-Suhaymi, El-Ghoury Dome, Talaat Harb Cultural Centre, Prince Taz Palace, Arab Oud House, Om Kalthoum Museum, Arabic Poetry House, the Egyptian Architect House, and Inji Aflatoun's Museum, among other venues.
Kuwait's emir has died at the age of 86, Kuwaiti state television reported Saturday.
"With great sadness and sorrow, we mourn the death of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait," according to a statement aired on state television.
Sheikh Nawaf was sworn in as emir in 2020 following the death of his predecessor, his half-brother the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
