The week also sees the last days of Luxor African Film Festival

Focusing on the cinematic gems from the African continent, the festival kicked off on 9 February and continues until 15 February in the historic Egyptian city of Luxor.

The festival is the brainchild of Egyptian screenwriter and actor Sayed Fouad – currently serving as its president – and Egyptian actress and film director Azza El Hosseiny.

Girl's Love (2003) - film

The film is screened throughout the week, but on Wednesday 14 February, the screening will be accompanied by a discussion with the scriptwriter Tamer Habib. On Sunday 18 February, the screening will be accompanied by a discussion with the Girl's Love director, Khaled El-Hagar. 

The film follows three sisters, all of them from different mothers, but one father. The father dies leaving them with a great legacy that requires the three of them to meet in one house.

The concert will feature the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Youth Orchestra conducted by Shadi Abdel-Salam, performing the best-known love compositions such as Besame Mucho, La Vie en Rose, Perhaps Love, Sway, Fly Me to the Moon, among others. The guest singer of the evening is Michelle Rounds.

Throughout her career, AbuTaleb performed in several concerts on various stages across Egypt, always attracting a large crowd of fans.

In the concert dubbed the "Concert Of The Century," Egyptian stars Mohamed Mounir, Ramy Sabry, and Sharmoofers will take the stage.

The gates to the venues open at 1pm. Between 4 and 7:30pm, the audience will be entertained by DJs Amr Gaber and Asrawy. The stars will be taking the stage between 8pm and 1am.

This is Amr Diab's winter concert and album launch in Egypt, showcasing his new tracks, topped with his iconic songs.

On 28 December 2023, Diab released his latest album Makanak (Your Place), with 12 songs starting to trend immediately. The first concert that included the songs from the Makanak album took place in Dubai, UAE.

Stabat Mater - music

The Cairo Symphony Orchestra and A Cappella Choir conducted by Jacopo Sipari di Pescasseroli (Italy) will perform Rossini’s Stabat Mater. The soloists of the evening are Mona Rafla (soprano), Jolie Faizy (mezzo-soprano), Amr Medhat (tenor) and Reda El-Wakil (bass).

The same evening will also present Bruch’s Violin Concerto no. 1, with the violin soloist Abigeila Voshtina
