Last Days of EU Film Screenings in Alexandria
EU Film Screenings is a festival dedicated to screenings of European films in the Mediterranean city. The festival launched on 29 April and continues until 31 May.
The films are screened across several cultural institutions operating in Alexandria, including the French Institute, Goethe-Institut, Instituto Cervantes (Spain), Honorary Consulate of Italy, Jesuit Cultural Centre, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Hellenic Foundation for Culture (Greece), and Anna Lindh Foundation.
The films, mostly produced in the 2020s feature cinema from Spain, Italy, Romania, France, Germany, Czechia, Greece, Germany, Denmark, The Netherlands, Luxemburg, Belgium, Ukraine, Latvia, and Estonia.

Sabbart in Cairo
Hosted by the EUNIC Cluster Egypt, Sabbart launched on 7 May and will run until 12 June at various venues in Cairo.
Organized by the European Union National Institutes for Culture EUNIC in Egypt, the programme includes film screenings, concerts, art exhibitions, and a talk.
Sabbart is a blend of "Sabbar" (Arabic for "cactus") and "Art," and it explores how arts and culture can shape a more sustainable future.

Four Daughters - film

Zawya Cinema, 15, Emad Eddin Str, Downtown, Cairo
Directed by Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, the film the film follows Olfa, a Tunisian woman and the mother of four daughters. One day, her two older daughters disappear. To fill in their absence, the filmmaker invites professional actresses and invents a unique cinema experience that will lift the veil on Olfa and her daughters' life stories.
The film blurs the boundaries between documentary and fiction and between being on-screen and off-screen.
The film has received critical acclaim, winning numerous awards at international festivals.
What Have the Years Done to Us - theatre

The play is an intimate journey through the complexities of love and relationships.
This modern couple grapples with their emotions, revealing both their inner thoughts and spoken words. The text captures the contrast between what we feel and what we express.

Marwan Moussa and Aziz Maraka - music

Dubbed Aawdet Batal Aalam (Return of the World Champion), the concert will feature two of the highly popular singers and songwriter, Egyptian rapper Marwan Moussa and Jordanian musician Aziz Maraka.
In his decade-long career, Marwan Moussa released a number of albums, with many of them or several songs reaching top of the charts on Spotify.
Maraka is a Jordanian singer, songwriter, and producer of Palestinian descent, who began his music career by playing the piano. His success with Bent El-Nas opened the door for a thriving career and helped propagate his music style, which he calls Razz — a fusion of Arabic rock and jazz performed in the Jordanian dialect.

Reem Ezzeldin - music

The concert will include a number of songs by great composers and singers, such as Fairouz, Abdel Halim Hafez, Fadel Shaker, Hamid Al Shaeri, and Amr Diab, in addition to some of Reem Ezzeldin’s original songs beloved by her audience.
In the concert, Ezzeldin will be accompanied by Tamer Mostafa (violin), Mohamed El Ashry (bass guitar), Ahmed Magdy (keyboard), and Monsef (percussion).
Following more than 15 years of performing with numerous formations, Ezzeldine launched her own band in 2022. She performed in numerous venues including American University in Cairo (Tahrir Campus), Arabic Music Institute, Room Art Space (garden City & 5th Settlement), and the Cairo Opera House’s small hall, during the Arabic Calligraphy celebrations.
Manal Mohie Eldin - music

The evening will feature the renowned Egyptian harp player Manal Mohie Eldin and her band.
The ensemble will take the listeners onto a journey of known oriental compositions.
Carmen - opera

The story of Carmen is well known to Egyptian audiences. Based on a story by French author Prosper Merimee, the Spanish heroine who has made her way to George Bizet’s opera of the same name (premiering in 1875) has been staged at the Cairo Opera House numerous times.
Dozens of other stagings of Carmen appeared on international stages since its premiere, usually to Bizet's music, presenting the Gypsy girl's story as theatre or dance shows.
The three evenings will present the soloists of the Cairo Opera Company, accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra conducted by Mohamed Saad Basha.
The opera is directed by Hisham El-Tally.

Massar Egbari - music

Founded in 2005, Massar Egbari has gained a large following in Egypt and beyond, with a lineup featuring Hani El-Dakkak on guitar and lead vocals, Ahmed Hafez on bass guitar, Tamer Attallah on drums, Ayman Massoud on keyboards, and Mahmoud Siam on guitar.
The band regularly sells out concerts in Egypt and has also performed in the region and internationally.
404 Band - music
Monday 3 June, 9pm
Room Art Space - New Cairo
Band 404 is an Egyptian sextet playing rock covers alongside their original compositions. Since its formation in 2018, the band has performed in numerous venues across Egypt.
