"Leilat El-Ahlam [A Night of Dreams]. A night in which we will enjoy the creations of a great musician Omar Khairat, and a voice of a great Amal Maher," revealed the event organizer Benchmark on the social media, revealing the concert that's scheduled to take place on 25 July.
This will be the duos first large cooperation on Jeddah's stage.
Each of the artists has already created a large portfolio of individual performances in the Saudi Arabian port city on the Red Sea, alongside other concerts in the Kingdom.
The upcoming bringing together Maher and Khairat will include a grand orchestra conducted by the Egyptian maestro Walid Fayed.
One of the leading Arab female voices, Amal Maher, 39, came to the limelight with her powerful voice and unique ability to sing Um Kalthoum's repertoire.
Well-known across the Arab world, Maher has released four studio albums: Isa'lni Ana" (Ask Me, 2006), A'raf Mneen (How Could I Know? 2011), Welad El Neharda (Sons of Today, 2015) and Asl El Ehsas (The Origin of Feelings, 2019), in which she collaborated with Indian composer, singer and music producer, A. R. Rahman.
Following her disapearance from a public view in 2021, Maher made a strong return with countless concerts over the past year. In May this year, she performed at Jeddah's Onyx Arena, and earlier this month she shared the stage in KSA with a Yemeni singer Fouad Abdelwahed. Following the 26 July concert, Maher is expected to perform during the ongoing Carthage International Festival, on 10 August.
Born in 1947, the multi-award-winning Khairat is one of the top musicians of the Arab world with hundreds of memorized compositions in his repertoire.
Throughout his long and successful career, he has written scores for numerous films and television series, including The Sixth Day (1984), The Terrorist (1993), Mafia (2002), Girl’s Love (2003), The Embassy in the Building (2005) and Deer’s Blood (2006), to name but a few.
Among his best known compositions are Heya Di El-Hayah, Fi Hawid El Leil, Arabian Rhapsody, Fiha Haga Helwa, Eadam Mayet, El-Khawaga Abdel-Kader, Giran El-Hana, Saber, Arfa, Qadeyet Am Ahmed, Khali Balak Men Aklak and other classic hits of time-honoured TV and film themes.
For a few decades, Khairat performs extensively in Egypt and across the Arab world.
