New films across cinemas
Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 October bring new films to movie theatres across Egypt:
3naha, drama film, starring Ahmed Malek and Nadah El-Shazly.
Smile 2, horror film, starring Naomi Scott, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Kyle Gallner.
Cash Out, action film, starring John Travolta, Lukas Haas, and Kristin Davis.
Die Alone, horror film, starring Carrie-Ann Moss and Frank Grillo.
The Apprentice, biographical film, starring Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong, and Maria Bakalova.
Arab Music Festival and Conference
Running until 24 October
Across Cairo Opera House, Gomhoreya Theatre, and Arabic Music Institute (Cairo), Sayed Darwish Theatre (Alexandria), and Damanhour Opera House (Damanhour).
The annual event hosts dozens of concerts for some of the most well-known Egyptian and Arab singers, bands, and instrumentalists.
Directed by musician Khaled Dagher, the 32nd edition includes numerous artists, such as Medhat Saleh, Hani Shaker, Tamer Ashour, Ahmed Saad, and Ali El-Haggar.
Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF)
Starting Thursday 17 October until 10 November
Several venues across Cairo and Alexandria
The 12th edition of D-CAF will feature 124 artists from 21 countries.
The festival will showcase 23 varied performances, encompassing dance, theatre, audiovisual presentations, and interactive experiences.
It will also offer a lineup of two exhibitions and nine workshops.

Manal Mohie El-Din - music
Thursday 17 October, 8pm
Al-Ghoury Dome, Al-Darb Al-Ahmar, Fatimid Cairo
The leading Egyptian harpist of her generation, Manal Mohie El-Din will present the audience with favourite works arranged for her ensemble led by the harp.
Mohie El-Din's artistic accomplishments encompass several years of performances on Egypt's and the world's stages. As a soloist, she has countless recitals to her name, along with performances with numerous orchestras in Egypt, including the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, the Cairo Opera Orchestra, and the Cairo Festival Orchestra.
Arees El-Bahr - theatre
Thursday 17 October, 8pm
El Rihany Theatre, 17 Emad El-Deen, Al Azbakeya, Cairo
The play is inspired by Mohamed Taha’s ballad Masoud and Wajida and directed by Waleed Talaat.
Arees El-Bahr, coming from the heart of Upper Egypt, revolves around two brothers divided by greed.
Massar Egbari And Disco Misr - music
Friday 18 October, 8pm
El Malahy, New Cairo
Founded in 2005, Massar Egbari has gained a large following in Egypt and beyond, with a lineup featuring Hany El-Dakkak on guitar and lead vocals, Ahmed Hafez on bass guitar, Tamer Attallah on drums, Ayman Massoud on keyboards, and Mahmoud Siam on guitar.
Massar Egbari regularly sells out concerts in Egypt and has also performed in the region and internationally.
Meanwhile, Disco Misr was formed in the mid-2010s by an Egyptian electronic music group consisting of two DJs and one VJ (visual jockey).
The band represents a new Arabic pop that relies on their original fusions of electronic music, house, nu-disco, and punk music with Arabic tunes, many of which are well known to the listeners.
El-Hadra Troupe - concert

El-Sawy Culturewheel, 26th of July Street, Zamalek, Cairo
Founded by Nour Nageh, the troupe consists of the Sufi devotees performing their renditions of classical standard Arabic Sufi poems.
Ritmo band - music
Saturday 19 October, 8pm
Room Art Space & Café, 10 Etihad Al Mohamin St., Garden City, Cairo
Ritmo is a musical troupe composed of six girls.
The band plays Oriental, English, French, Lebanese dabke, rai, and Gulf music.
Tamer Ashour and Mohamed Hamaki - music
Tuesday 22 October, 9pm
Al-Masa Hotel, Nasr City, Cairo
Singer and composer Tamer Ashour came into the spotlight in the mid-2000s. Ever since, he has released seven albums, establishing himself as one of the most popular performers in Egypt and the Arab world.
Mohamed Hamaki is also among the top Egyptian pop stars of his generation.
Born in 1975, Hamaki released his first album Khalena Neysh in 2003, followed by more than a dozen other albums, with the latest being Ya Fatenny (2021).
Hamaki won the Best Arabia Act award from MTV Europe Music Awards and the Music Award in 2006 for Ahla Haga Fiki.
