New films across cinemas
Wednesday 4, Thursday 5, and Saturday 7 June bring new films to movie theatres across Egypt:

Wust El-Balad and Black Theama - music

Cairo Jazz Club 610, The Spot Mall, New Cairo

Two popular bands will join hands in a unique concert, bringing their best hits to the audience. 

Wust El Balad blends Western rock rhythms with traditional Egyptian music. 

Black Theama’s members come from Aswan; hence, their compositions and arrangements create a fusion of Nubian, Sudanese, and other African influences, alongside reggae, hip-hop, and R&B.

Egyptian Project - music

Founded in 2007, the Egyptian Project emerged as a French-Egyptian musical group that created a unique collaboration between French producer Jérôme Ettinger and several prominent Egyptian musicians. 

Today, the ensemble mainly performs as a trio. Its lineup includes renowned Egyptian artists: Sayed Emam on vocals and hawala, Salama Metwally on violin and rabab, and Ragab Sadek on percussion. Their performances are celebrated for their captivating energy and cultural depth, often incorporating elements of Sufi music and engaging live interactions with audiences. 

Ali El-Helbawy - music

Egyptian singer and Islamic sufi chanter Ali El-Helbawy’s repertoire includes songs about love and faith, which carry patriotic themes, and some traditional covers.

El-Helbawy frequently performs across Cairo venues and often collaborates with many other performers. He has been featured in several compositions created by the Egyptian-German ensemble Cairo Steps.  

Cairokee, Marwan Moussa, Afroto
Makadi Heights Music Festival

Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 June, 7.30pm

The two-day Makadi Heights Summer Music Festival returns for its second edition, with the Cairokee band on Day 1 (7 June) and Marwan Moussa & Afroto on Day 2 (8 June).

Founded in 2003, Cairokee is one of the most popular independent Egyptian bands. The band has released several studio albums, including Matloob Zaeem (2011), Wana Maa Nafsy Aad (2012), El-Sekka Shemal (2014), Nas w Nas (2015), Noaata Beida (2017), The Ugly Ducklings (2019), and Roma (2022).

Marwan Moussa is a well-known Egyptian rapper who gained prominence after releasing Sheraton in 2020. He has released several albums, the latest one being The Man That Lost His Heart (2024). Moussa garnered several recognitions, including Best African Rapper, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and Best Artist in African Hip-Hop awards from the All-African Music Awards 2022. 

Afroto, another well-known rapper, has been among the top-listened-to artists in Egypt on global streaming platforms in recent years. He often collaborates with other rappers—Wegz, Marwan Pablo, Marwan Moussa—and has given numerous concerts in Egypt and the Arab region. 

Jiggy band - music
Tuesday 10 June, 9pm
Room Art Space, New Cairo

Jiggy is a funk pop band based in Cairo. It has covered James Brown, Michael Jackson, and Bruno Mars, among other singers.
The band formed in 2018 and has performed many concerts, bringing back the taste of groove and solid rhythm sound.

The band’s line-up includes Mohammed Mustaga (Darko - main vocals), Saad Elfiky (guitars and backing vocals), Amjad Abdelbari (bass), Mohamed Raafat (keyboards), and Walid Gaballah (drums and backing vocals).
