Cairo Symphony Orchestra to perform works by Czech composers

The Cairo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jiří Petrdlík will perform works by Czech composers On Saturday 13 October in Cairo and Sunday 14 October in Alexandria

Dubbed "Dvořák and his disciples", the Cairo Symphony Orchestra will perform works by Leoš Janáček, Antonín Leopold Dvořák and Josef Suk.

The programme includes Idyll for String Orchestra by Janáček followed by Dvořák's Violin Concerto in A minor, Op. 53 with Yasser El Serafi as the soloist.

In the second half of the evening, the orchestra will perform Suk's Pohadka - 'A Fairy Tale' - Opus 16, an Orchestral Suite.

The Czech composers have become part of the standard elements of the repertoire of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra this season, fact which can be linked to Jiří Petrdlík who became the orchestra's principal conductor and artistic director.

Sunday 14 October at 8pm - Alexandria Opera House (Sayed Darwish Theatre), 22 El-Horreya Road (formerly known as Fouad St.), El-Raml Station, Alexandria
