Art Alert: French-Iranian pianist to perform at Palace in Cairo

On Sunday 14 October, French-Iranian pianist Nima Sarkechik will give a piano recital at the historic Manasterly Palace

French-Iranian pianist Nima Sarkechik, described as "an extraordinary young talent" will give a piano recital in one of the most inspiring locations in Cairo: Manasterly Palace.

The concert is a part of the International Music Centre's (IMC) activities.

Since 2002, the IMC, with help from the Culture Development Fund, has been attracting audiences to hear remarkable musicians hand-picked by Ramzi Yassa, renowned Egyptian and international pianist and artistic director at the centre. After launching its activities at the Manasterly Palace on Roda Island, IMC concerts were were moved for a few years to  the Golden Hall of the Prince Mohamed Ali Palace, until restoration of the Manasterly Palace was completed.

Now that the restorations are finished, audiences are invited back to the original home of the recitals organised by the IMC: the Manasterly Palace.

Sarkechik's recital will include Debussy's Images (book 1), Franz Schubert's Sonata D 959 in A major and Franz Liszt's Sonata in B minor.
