Amr Diab to star in the Arab Music Festival in Australia

The Arab Music Festival in Sydney on 2 February features a concert by Egypt's best-selling pop star, Amr Diab

The organisers of the first Arab Music Festival to be held in Sydney, Australia promise that the event will feature a five-hour programme of music and dance performances.

Planned to be held on 2 Fberuary in ANZ Stadium, the Arab Music Festival aims to become an "annual celebration in Sydney's multi-cultural calendar."

The star of the celebrations will be Egyptian pop star with a 20-year vibrant career, Amr Diab. The best-selling Arab recording artist is considered the king of the Arab World pop music since 1980s.

Diab is also known for appearing in Pepsi commercials alongside the likes of American pop icons J-Lo and Beyonce. He was awarded the World Music Award for Best Selling Middle Eastern Artist in 1998 for album "Nour El Ain," and managed to get the same award in 2001 for his album "Aktr Wahed Beyhbak 2001"and in 2007 for "El Lillady."

The Arab Music Festival organisers say they will also include "local and international representatives of Sydney's vibrant Middle Eastern Community."
