First concert of El Sakia String Orchestra took place on 19 October. The upcoming concert is scheduled on 30 November
On 30 November, El Sakia String Orchestra will hold its monthly concert at El Sawy Culturewheel's Wisdom Hall. The concert, titled “Baroque Evening I”, will include Canon & Gigue by J. Pachelbel, Violin Concerto in E by J. S. Bach, Albinoni’s Adagio in G and Händel’s Concerto Grosso Op.6 No.1 with the violin soloist Hossam Shehata.
The orchestra, which was founded this year, consists of a string orchestra of seven violins, two violas, two celli and one double bass. It will perform monthly at El Sawy Culturewheel.
“It is important to introduce classical music to El Sawy Culturewheel," says Mohamed Saad Basha, orchestra founder and conductor. "The center attracts a big number of young people and presence of classical music will give them an opportunity to get closer to this valuable music genre.”
In an exclusive interview with Ahram Online, Basha said the “12 strings" are just a start. "We will be adding other instruments, depending on the concert program”, he said.
