Mariola Cieniawa will give a recital at Cairo's historic Manasterly Palace on Sunday 19 May

Mariola Cieniawa, one of Poland's outstanding pianists and chamber musicians, will give a recital at Manasterly Palace on Sunday 19 May.

Cieniawa won first prize at the Karol Szymanowski Piano Competition held in Poland (1983). She was also granted the Frederic Chopin Artistic Scholarship twice, in 1983 and 1984. She received a number of top or special prizes at the 3rd International Piano Competition in Palm Beach, Florida (USA), at the 5th International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Palma Majorca (Spain, 1990) and at the Chopin Piano Competition in Uoln (Germany, 1991).

Cieniawa gives recitals in Poland and internationally and records for Polish Radio and Television Records.

Her performance at Cairo's Manasterly Palace will include compositions by Mompou, Granados, Andaluza, Albeniz as well as works by two Polish composers, Szymanowski and Paderewski.

Manasterly Palace is home to concerts organised by the International Music Centre (IMC). The IMC, with help from the Culture Development Fund, has been attracting audiences to hear remarkable musicians hand-picked by Ramzi Yassa, renowned pianist and artistic director at the centre.

Among the many renowned names gracing the Manasterly's audience with their recitals, was famed Russian pianist Andrei Gavrilov, who performed there on February 2013.
