The evening will include works by Russian composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The programme for the evening will begin with the Ouverture 1812, followed by the Sleeping Beauty Ballet Suite
The programme also includes one of the most important works by the composer, Symphony n6 (Pathetique) op74 in B minor
The Symphony, written between February and the end of August 1893 is the last completed work composed by Tchaikovsky and was dubbed by his brother "Pathetique", which at the time indicated sorrow and a sense of melancholy (and should not be confused with the adjective "pathetic").
Robert Simpson describes the Symphony as "No other work has survived so many critical burials."
