On Wednesday, 19 March, the Rageh Daoud chamber orchestra will perform some of Daoud's works for the cinema at the Cairo Opera House. The orchestra will be conducted by Daoud himself.
The same performance will take place again in Alexandria, at the Sayed Darwish Theatre, on Sunday, 23 March.
Born in 1954, pianist, composer and professor at the Cairo Conservatory, Rageh Daoud is one of the leading members of the third generation of Egyptian composers.
His compositions include works for piano, voice, and orchestra. He has also composed numerous film scores for feature and documentary movies including Al-Kit Kat, The Shepherd and the Women, The Champion, Birds of the Nile, The Scandal, Messages of the Sea, among others. His works are often performed not only in Egypt but internationally as well: in Austria, Italy Germany, France, Czech Republic, UK, Spain, Canada, Hungary and Poland.
Soloists on both evenings will be Ines Abdel-Dayem on the flute, Mostafa El-Arabi on the oboe, Hossam Shehata on violin, Hany El-Badry on nay, Mahmoud Abdel-Fattah on oud, Saber Abdel-Sattar on qanoun and Mohamed Saleh on organ. The vocalist on both nights will be Ahmed Zaki.
