In its fourth edition, the Veggie Fest Cairo Iftar will take place this year on 23 July at the Greek Campus of the American University in Cairo.
This year's edition features a pre-Iftar yoga session at 5pm instructed by Yogi Ali and will be followed by a vegetarian dish party for Iftar at 7pm.
Participants are asked to bring a vegetarian dish, clearly tagged with its ingredients, and are also asked to mention if the dish is vegetarian, vegan or gluten free.
Following the Iftar will be an open mic night organised by Mashrou' El-Mareekh (The Mars Project) who for more than five years have been organising open-mic nights all around Egypt where anyone can have five minutes to express themselves. Veggie Fest participants are encouraged to bring their talents, whether through voices, musical instruments or words.
The event will conclude with an open music jam in which all are welcome to participate.
Veggie Fest Cairo started in 2011 as an initiative for Cairo's vegetarians and vegans to get together and network. However, meat-eaters are also welcome as the event also aims to raise awareness of the health benefits of vegetarianism in Egyptian society.
Yoga starts at 5pm, Iftar at 7pm - Wednesday 23 July
