The Cinderella ballet to music by Sergei Prokofiev was first performed at the Cairo Opera House in 1998 with Erminia Kamel in the main role. The performance was also staged in the following season in 1999, only to disappear from the Cairo Opera Ballet Company's repertoire for over 15 years.

On 23 February Cinderella will return with a completely new cast, incorporating the whole team of the Cairo Opera Ballet Company.

The ballet is based on the choreography by Frederick Ashton with additional touches by director Abdel Moneim Kamel.

The company's artistic director Erminia Kamel explains that, following the artistic vision of Abdel Moneim Kamel, the ballet will see an original twist in the character of the fairy.

Performed in three acts, Cinderella is a challenging ballet and a "serious work following a fairy tale story," Kamel explains.

The Cairo Opera Orchestra will play under the baton of its principal conductor David Crescenzi.

Programme:
23 - 27 February inclusive, 8pm
Cairo Opera House main hall, Zamalek
