The latest piece by Dutch dancer and choreographer artist Anna Maria Suijkerbuijk, 'Since I Am, Definitely You Are,' is a dance piece led by a guitar, tackling human connection and its universality.
According to its description, the dance piece is “a research for the meaning of humanity within ourselves. We think of ourselves far too frequently just as individuals. Separated from one another, whereas you are connected and what you do effects the whole world.”
Assaad Nessim plays guitar and Suijkerbuijk is joined by Mahmoud Zaghloul for the performance.
Suijkerbuijk studied at the ARTEZ dance academy and has been a dancer since 2007. In 2008, she was a finalist on the TV show So You Think You Can Dance in the Netherlands.
She then started her own dance production company, Sine Forma, in 2012.
In Egypt, Suijkerbuijk has participated in dance festivals including the Contemporary Dance Night in 2014 and the By Chance festival in 2015. She is also running a three-day contemporary dance project at the GrEEK campus between 19 and 21 December.
The performance will take place on 24 and 25 December, 7pm and 9pm on both days
ROOM Art Space, 10 Etehad El-Mohamin Street, Garden City, Cairo
