Beead Anak, written by Tarek Moustafa and directed by Reem El Meligui, relays three real life stories of Aids patients and aims to break down the stigma of this disease.
“Through this play we are trying to get the message across that HIV is not necessarily transmitted through sexual activity and even if it is, it’s not our place to judge,” El Meligui said.
The play is part of an HIV awareness campaign by Y-peer, an international network of organisations promoting awareness about different types of the disease.
The performances will be followed by a discussion with the actors about HIV.
Performances will take place on 17, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30 December at 8:00 p.m, at the Saadeya High School Theater, beside Cairo University.
